What does getting out of your “comfort zone” actually really mean? Most people want to feel comfortable because it’s easy and it does not hurt. Well in running in order to get better you need to get out of your comfort zone. We as runners know running is far from easy and if it is then you will not see results.
Now don’t get me wrong not everyone’s goals in running is to be fast or run a marathon but for the ones who want to get PR’s or qualify for Boston then you need to think about your own running and if you are comfortable in your running then most often or not you will not hit your full potential.
It’s ok to hurt a bit…pushing your limits is mentally and physically hard to do at times but when you do you will see the results you are looking for.
So challenge yourself…don’t be afraid to push the pace on some of your runs. I mentioned before about tempo runs. Tempo runs are a great workout to challenge not only your body but your mind. I suggest doing the fast workouts with a buddy. In the end, you will not regret those tough workouts you put in on race day.
Hard work does pay off 💪🏼
